The transition from kindergarten to school can be quite daunting for many children.
Primarily this is because of the hours of schooling required as opposed to their 4 year old kinder program. St Peter’s staff visit local Kindergartens in order to build positive relationships and develop good communication practices with staff and students.
At St Peter’s we like to transition Prep children during Term 4 before beginning school on a full time basis. For the first 4 weeks of every school year the Prep students attend for a full day 8:45am – 3:15pm with the exclusion of Wednesdays.
Each year the Prep teachers conduct individual numeracy and literacy assessments for all Prep students on Wednesdays during this transition period.
